NEW UPDATE: If you are a follower of Harold Camping or a listener of Family Radio, please see the posting for 13 November 2009.
This posting is not a personal attack on any indiviaul; rather, it is intended to show the error of the “Depart Out” doctrine and it comes courtesy of Dr. Ken Matto.
Point #1. According to the Depart Out teaching, the church age ended in 1994. At that time Satan took his seat in the temple (i.e., the corporate church).
Point #2. At this time the principal teacher espousing Depart Out was still a member of his local Church. He remained a member until 2001.
For those who believe the teachings that the church age is over, please understand the ramifications of the two points above: this means the origin of the “Depart Out” and “High Places” teachings in 1999 began under satanic origin since the Holy Spirit had fled from the church.
According to his own teaching, the most prominent Depart Our teacher was under God’s wrath while remaining in a church for 7 years. According to his own doctrine, during this time he was under the authority of Satan. One inescapable conclusion to be drawn from this – according to the logic of his own doctrine — is that the “Depart Out” theory is of satanic origin and must be rejected by God’s children.
His own teaching betrays him, particularly in the area of timing. This teacher was under Satan’s authority for seven years.
Is it any wonder why so many Christians have fought this teaching? The Holy Spirit gives discernment to know the spirit of error and the spirit of truth. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.

Although we disagree profusely with the Depart Out teachings, this posting is not intended to personally attack any individual. Rather, our aim is to call into question the teachings.
(Exodus 20:16) Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
The Bible is very clear that Christians are not to bear false witness against anyone. In fact, the Lord Jesus Christ commanded us to love our neighbor as we love ourselves.
(Luke 10:27) And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
Two verses later one of the Lawyers asks the Lord “who is my neighbor?” and that sets the stage for the Lord’s teaching on the Good Samaritan.
Those espousing “Depart Out” doctrine are continuing to teach that every church in the world without exception is apostate.
However, unless one has visited every church in the world, blanket statements such as these against every church worldwide is tantamount to bringing false accusations. This is one of the most egregious aspects of this doctrine; yet it appears very few of its followers take this into consideration.
Why is this so? Could it be that they view this teacher as infallible? We have to pose such a dramatic question because very few followers are even daring to question this particular line of teaching.
NO ONE IN THE WORLD WAS SAVED FROM 1988-1994
One of his most incredible declarations is that no one in the world was saved between 1988 and 1994, which according to the Depart Out teaching, was the first part of the Great Tribulation when no one around the world was saved.
But the primary expositors of this doctrine belie this line of teaching as seen by the testimonies of many of its listeners…

College Park, Maryland WFSI – “Seven months ago I would have never dreamed that I would listen to “Christian radio.” It just wasn’t my thing. But God changed my heart and He opened my blind eyes and now I can’t believe that I listened to all that crazy music of the pop stations. Your music ministry has really helped me to grow as a baby Christian.”

“…I’ve been listening to Family Radio for approximately a year and a half…In retrospect, I realize that God had been working in my heart through breaking my will and making me cry out to Him for mercy. So I did, and realized I had become saved by listening to Family Radio…”
The testimony of these people is that God saved them through these ministries during the time the Depart Out teachers claim no salvation was taking place. Something is dreadfully wrong here.
Either every single one of these people without exception is lying (and there were many more testimonies during this period; only a very few are excerpted here)…or the Depart Out teaching is false. Can you see that even if one person became saved during this timeframe, then this completely refutes the idea that no one was saved in the world between 1988-1994, which refutes these teachers understanding of the Great Tribulation, which refutes the doctrine of Depart Out? The entire foundation of the Depart Out teaching is eroded, and the entire doctrine comes tumbling down.
To be sure, walk into a majority of the churches around the world and you’ll find either total or partial apostasy. However, just as there will be a remnant of true believers as we near the Last Day, so too there will also be a remnant of true churches tied to that remnant of true believers.
Can you understand the point we’re trying to make? Do you see how those following his doctrine are in open violation of the ninth commandment by falsely accusing the brethren?
